People with Disability Australia (PWDA), a national disability rights and advocacy organisation made up of and led by people with disability, published a guide to assist the general public and media outlets in talking about and reporting on disability.
The guide:
• Unpacks some of the key factors which influence disability-related language
• Provides advice for media workers around reporting on disability-related content
• Identifies commonly misused terms and recommends suitable alternatives.
You can download the PWDA Language Guide from the APO website.
