Public comment sought on draft regulation for Disability Inclusion Act

Published

To support the operation of the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 (NSW), a draft Regulation has been released by the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) for public consultation.

Comments from stakeholders and the general public are encouraged as it supports the way the Act operates, according to The Secretary of FACS, Michael Coutts-Trotter.

The draft Regulation sets out the following:

  • NSW Disability Inclusion Plan and disability inclusion action plan timeframes.
  • How the Disability Council NSW chairperson and deputy chairperson are appointed and the duration of their tenure.
  • Confirmation on the disability service standards referred to in the Act.
  • Details about employment screening of new and existing workers and board members.

Comments and questions can be sent to or by calling 1800 446 470.

The closing date for comments is 5pm, October 27, 2014.
