We are pleased to announce a new teaching/training resource for occupational safety and health in the construction industry. It is called 'Construction OS&H' and is available for free download from the web site of the International Labour Office at: http://www.ilo.org/public/english/dialogue/sector/sectors/constr/index.htmThis is quite a substantial package. The subject has been divided into 15 Themes, each described in a Theme Summary of typically 30 A4 pages and the whole set of Theme Summaries has 424 pages in total. Each Theme has a PowerPoint presentation, typically 50 slides, 802 in total. There are four example courses which demonstrate how this package may be used for clients, design and project management teams, construction companies, and workers. There is a range of supporting materials. Richard Neale and Fiona Murie wrote the package and the project was managed by Edmundo Werna. The package has recently been tested through four courses in Tanzania, led by Professor Lema of the University of Dar es Salaam, and we have positive feedback. If any of you use any of this package in practice, we shall be grateful for feedback.Best wishesDr Richard NealeProfessor Emeritus, University of Glamorgan, Wales, UKhttps://www.icloud.com/mobileme/not_found/Dr Edmundo WernaConstruction Industry SpecialistInternational Labour OfficeGenevahttp://www.ilo.org/public/english/dialogue/sector/sectors/constr/contact.htmFiona MurieOccupational Safety and Health DirectorBuilding and Woodworkers' Internationalhttps://www.bwint.org:443/default.asp?Issue=Contact%20Us&Language=EN
