New independent living research facilities

Published

Six new research facilities have been built by the National Centre for Healthy Ageing (partnership between Bayside Health Peninsula and Monash University).

One of them is a "living lab", which consists of two integrated environments; "the simulated independent living lab, which replicates a typical home but enables users to interact with assistive technology, smart systems and therapeutic tools in a safe and realistic setting", and "a mobility garden featuring ramps, varied gradients and surfaces, and handrails to allow users to navigate diverse terrain and practice mobility skills with or without the use of assistive products."
