New aged care system releases have been scheduled for 29 June 2026 for the Aged Care Gateway (ACG) and for the Government Provider Management System (GPMS).

Published

The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing have announced that the next major aged care system releases have been scheduled for 29 June 2026 for the Aged Care Gateway (ACG) and for the Government Provider Management System (GPMS).

Key changes:

"The key ACG changes being introduced from 29 June 2026 include:

  • New Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) delegate workflow and approval record for transitioned Multi-Purpose Service Program (MPSP) and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program (NATSIFACP) clients
    • From 29 June 2026 a new in-system approval process will be used for Home Support assessments for MPSP and NATSIFACP clients, displaying approvals, recommendations and referrals differently in My Aged Care portals.

  • Outlet Configuration – Service delivery enhancements
    • Improvements to delivery hours for Support at Home (SaH) will be implemented to align with Price Time categories. Changes will simplify how service delivery hours are set. Providers can set service availability using pricing time categories instead of specific days and times.

  •   Support at Home (SaH) Refinements to Assessments and Home Modifications extension process
    • Improvements to the aged care assessment process will make decisioter, simpler, and more consistent by reducing steps, improving assessment tools, and supporting better service recommendations.
    • Changes include streamlined triage processes, better alignment of assessment questions and automatic data updates. A new automated extension process for high tier home modifications will also reduce administration work and support faster service delivery, with no action required before release.
  • Support at Home (SaH) Refinements to Letters, updates and Notifications
    • From 29 June, SaH client letters will be updated to be more accurate and easier to understand, with new letters introduced to support key stages of the client journey such as funding approvals, extensions and reinstatements.
    • Decision letters have also been improved with simpler language, more complete information and clearer explanations of next steps. The review email address has also been changed toagedcarereviews@health.gov.au.
    • New notifications will alert organisations, agents, assessors and delegates when important letters are sent, helping keep recipients informed about client funding and service updates.
  • Integrated Assessment Tool (IAT) Correction Process Prior to Delegate Approval
    • The Assessment process will be enhanced by allowing delegates to return assessments to assessors to amend the IAT inputs prior to delegate decisions. Delegates can return assessments to assessors for amendment, to ensure records are accurate. The new functionality will reduce unnecessary reassessments and review requests caused by data errors.

  •   Refining AN-ACC Reassessment Reasons
    • From 29 June 2026, updates to the My Aged Care service and support portal will streamline the AN-ACC Reassessment process. When this broad reassessment reason is selected, providers will be required to choose a single, more specific sub‑category that identifies the primary cause. The new options clearly distinguish between changes in mobility, cognition, and function, pressure sore risk or compounding factors, this supports more accurate and consistent data capture. Making a sub‑category mandatory will improve data quality and provide clearer insight into reassessment drivers."

"The key GPMS changes being introduced from 29 June 2026 include:

  • Quarterly Financial Report (QFR) Updates for 2026-27
    • From Quarter 1 2026–27, the Residential Care Labour Costs and Hours form in the QFR will be updated with new reporting requirements. The changes include:
      • 14 new expense data items
      • removal of 6 existing data items in the labour hours worked – RN minutes section
      • removal of Outbreak management expense data items.
    • These updates support improved validation of reported residential care time delivery and enable closer monitoring of costs.

  • Manage Your Organisation (MYO) Enhancements
    • The Registered Provider Portal MYO tile will be enhanced to allow providers to make some updates to Responsible Person contact details and Residential Care Home responsibilities, reducing the need for Department or Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission assistance.
    • Providers will also have improved functionality to manage contact records, including the ability to update legal names and perform bulk updates.

  •  Updates to Provider Operations Collection Form
    • The Provider Operations Collection form has been upgraded to incorporate the enhanced DocuSign functionality used in GPMS. This includes the ability to request and track signatures, apply multi‑factor authentication and correct, resend, or void envelopes.

  • GPMS Provider switcher
    • Enhancements have been implemented to allow GPMS users with the appropriate access to switch between provider records within the same Aged Care Organisation. This includes the ability to access provider records with an Expired or Revoked status."
