International Dementia Design School

Designing for better lives

The International Dementia Design School, exclusive to the Dementia Centre, is a three day intensive, practice-based workshop covering all aspects of best practice in dementia design. The Design School is presented by internationally recognised experts, who will provide you with the necessary knowledge and tools to design dementia enabling environments.

  • Practical solutions to design excellence - We will explore design principles and features including lighting, acoustics, interiors, outdoor spaces and multi-storey design.
  • Strategies to design for success - Serving the needs of both staff and clients: reducing adverse incidents, optimising the comfort of clients and staff, reducing behavioural symptoms of clients, reducing staff turnover, maximising delivery of quality care.
  • Tools to empower you to make things happen - How to move from concept to reality by making the most of what you have while aiming for best practice, high quality design.
  • Professional development points - 15 CNE (Royal College of Nursing) and 15.5 Formal CPD points (Australian Institute of Architects)

The course is ideal for architects, designers, decision-makers, dementia specialists, planners and project managers.
