Palliative care can help people with life-limiting illnesses to live as well as possible, for as long as possible, by supporting their physical, emotional, spiritual and social needs.
The theme for this year is Palliative Care – it’s more than you think! It aims to spark important conversations in the community about the benefits of quality palliative care and celebrate the dedication of all those working and volunteering in palliative care across Australia.

The department is seeking proposals to develop a model for an Aged Care Centre for Growth and Transitional Research (CGTR) Stage 1.
In 2018, the Aged Care Workforce Strategy Taskforce published A Matter of Care – Australia’s aged care workforce strategy, which recommended the future development of a CGTR.
On 1 May 2019, the Prime Minister, the Hon Scott Morrison MP, announced an election commitment of $34 million to establish “a new Aged Care Workforce Research Centre, which will examine new ways to deliver care for older Australians and training and education for aged care providers, drawing on the world’s best practice.” The CGTR is scheduled to be established in early 2021 and will receive Australian Government funding through to 30 June 2024.

Aged care providers are encouraged to participate in the Aged Care Industry Information Technology Council (ACIITC) Capabilities in Aged & Community Care Readiness: An Evaluation of Innovation & Technology (CARE-IT) Research Project.
The CARE-IT Research Project provides an important opportunity for aged care industry stakeholders to be involved in a landmark study. The project will identify technology and innovation benchmarking for the sector and contribute to the development of strategy and investment for the future.
Participation involves completing the ACIITC CARE-IT Survey 2020. The survey is estimated to take 30 to 40 minutes. Participants can register to go in the draw to win two conference passes to ITAC 2021. Please limit your response to one per organisation.
The survey is available now until 5.00pm (AEST) on Friday, 5 June 2020.
