The Department of Social Services (the department) would like to let you know the new National Disability Information Gateway (the Disability Gateway) pilot website was released yesterday and is available at www.disabilitygateway.gov.au.

This pilot website is the first ‘public phase’ of the Australian Government’s commitment to develop a National Disability Information Gateway service.

The full Disability Gateway Service will commence in January 2021 and consist of a website and a national contact centre via a dedicated 1800‑phone number, to connect people with disability, their families and carers, to information and services.

The tender to engage a supplier to establish and operate the full Disability Gateway Service was also published yesterday on AusTender at www.tenders.gov.au/.

Through a range of channels including website, telephone and email, the Disability Gateway Service will directly support:

  1. people with disability, their families and carers to access disability information, services and other types of assistance; and
  2. enquiries from parties in the sector who assist people with disability, including but not limited to health professionals, disability service providers and advocates.

The department would like to encourage you to spread the work about the Disability Gateway pilot website.

Attached is a Stakeholder Kit which contains key details, messages and images to help you communicate the benefits of the Disability Gateway, encourage people to visit the website and ask them to provide their feedback.

Also, don’t forget to leave your own feedback, and if you are a government accredited service provider, to have your services included on the Disability Gateway pilot website.

The feedback buttons are found at the top and bottom right hand sides at www.disabilitygateway.gov.au.

Further, if you know of an organisation that could deliver the full Disability Gateway Service on behalf of the government, encourage them to visit www.tenders.gov.au/and submit a proposal before 2pm on 15 September 2020.
