On 23 February 2017 the NSW Audit Office report - 'Building the readiness of the non-government sector for the NDIS' was tabled in Parliament.
The report found that the Department of Family and Community Services (FACS) has effectively expanded the overall capacity of the non-government disability sector in preparation for the NDIS. The report's findings are a testament to the sustained, collaborative effort and investment in the disability sector over the past 10 years in NSW.
FACS is committed to implementing all four recommendations of the report and to work closely with National Disability Services and the National Disability Insurance Agency to support providers throughout the remainder of the NDIS transition period.
FACS' formal response and more information on how the recommendations will be addressed can be found at http://www.audit.nsw.gov.au/publications/latest-reports/building-readiness-ndis
