Aligning Regulation across Care and Support Sector - Consultation Stage 2

Published

The Australian Government is seeking to align regulation across the aged care, disability support and veterans’ care sectors. The 2021-22 Budget included a range of measures that form a short to longer term program of reform.

The Department of Health, the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission (NDIS Commission), the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSC), the Department of Social Services (DSS) and the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) are working together to deliver on the care and support regulatory alignment reform program.

These reforms will seek to improve quality and safety for participants/consumers and remove unnecessary duplication of obligations for service providers and workers to work more seamlessly across different types of care.

The commitment to align regulation was made in recognition that similar services are provided across the aged care, disability support and veterans’ care sectors.

The Department of Health is seeking feedback on the consultation paper for stage 2 of the project. For more information or to have your say please visit the Department of Health website.
