Professional Development Workshop: Dealing with Racism in Aged Care

Older Australians and Australia's aged care workforce are increasingly diverse. In order to comply with The Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission's Quality Standards, it is important for aged care staff to identify and mitigate cultural conflict.

This workshop will address the aged care standards below

  • Aged Care Standard 1 - Consumer dignity and choice
  • Aged Care Standard 7 - Human resources
  • Aged Care Standard 8 - Organisational governance

This evidence-based highly interactive workshop will draw on the experience of participants and also focus on:

  • Identifying and responding to cultural conflict
  • Creating culturally-safe environments for older people and staff
