This seminar will consider significant developments in the protection of the rights of people with disability following Australia’s ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and the commencement of the Disability Discrimination and Other Human Rights Legislation Amendment Act 2009.
* Disability Discrimination Commissioner Graeme Innes will discuss the implementation of the Disabilities Convention in Australia
* Jonathon Hunyor will provide an overview of the changes to federal disability discrimination laws.
* The seminar will be chaired by the President and Human Rights Commissioner the Hon Catherine Branson QC who will also launch the Commission’s publication ‘Federal Discrimination Law’ on AustLII.
