Design and Universal Design Around the Globe

The American Society of Interior Designers is set to host Leading-edge Design and Universal Design Around the Globe, an online event led by Jeff Anderzohn, FAIA, on Tuesday, May 24.

The idea behind the webinar is that while designers and care providers often work in a local state of mind when creating environments for their aging clients and residents, many issues affecting the aging are in fact commonly felt from region to region, country to country. The seminar works to bring together international advances in design and in universal design that could be utilized in many locations.

ASID notes the presentation and workshop will look at ways in which designers and care providers around the world are "advancing designs for the aging and creating environments which enhance the sense of place, improve the quality of life and create homes for their residents." Cited will be examples taken from a recent tour of aged care facilities in England, the U.S., Australia, Japan, and Korea, as well as the International Association of Homes and Services for the Aging International Design Symposium.

The webinar takes place at 1 p.m. ET (US time) and is scheduled to run for 90 minutes. ASID members and non-members are invited to attend the online event. Cost for members is US$24.99; cost for non-members is US$34.99. Registration is required.
