Ceiling Hoist Training

Risk Managed, in collaboration with Macarthur Home Modifications Service and HLS Healthcare, brings you a comprehensive training day on overhead hoist prescription.

Expected Learning Outcomes: After completing this course, you will be equipped with a system for prescribing over-head hoist systems. You will feel competent in the prescription of ceiling track hoists, knowing when you could explore them over a mobile hoist and vice versa. You will realize that a simple tracking system in many cases, is all that is needed, to solve manual handling problems. You will also be clear on when you might look at a more complex tracking system. You will feel competent in communicating the options for mounting the over-head hoist with your client as well as other stakeholders involved. After completing this course, you will be able to:

• Identify the enablers and inhibitors of a ceiling track versus a mobile hoist;
• Explore single track over an x-y and curved/multi-track system;
• Recognise the key features of tracks, motors, yokes and slings;
• Explore ceiling hoists for rehabilitation and enhancing function versus maintenance;
• Identify the key features in assessing a client in the home; and
• Demonstrate key procedures in bed mobility related to hoists.

Where: Bankstown Hospital Auditorium Level 4. Limited parking available in carpark ($25 per day) or on street. Bankstown Hospital On-Demand Transport is an option from Bankstown Station or The Paceway.
