Bathroom design for OTs

Aimed at novice home modifications practitioners, new graduates, or more experienced OTs looking to spruce up their OT toolkit.

This workshop is designed specifically for occupational therapists who are eager to advance their foundational skills in bathroom modifications. It offers a unique opportunity for OT clinicians who strive to prescribe accessible bathrooms that are not only safe and functional but also aesthetically pleasing, accommodating limited budgets, personal styles, and preferences.

Learning Objectives: Throughout the workshop, participants will delve into the intricacies of OT clinical reasoning and its alignment with appropriate product selection, resulting in best-practice outcomes. By the conclusion of this workshop, occupational therapists will:

  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of bathroom planning theory
  • Apply practical techniques and task analysis in bathroom planning
  • Recognise the bathroom as a workplace and implement principles to establish a safe working environment for care/support staff
  • Identify design considerations for bathrooms catering to single users as well as multiple users
  • Familiarise themselves with a range of bathroom fixtures and fittings, including the associated products and processes

To conclude the day, an engaging 'Ask Us Anything' Q&A panel session will feature experienced Home Mods OTs and Builders, providing valuable insights and answering any remaining queries.
