This year’s Conference builds on the previous AAG conferences where the importance of both enabling and appreciating the contributions that older people make to their families, communities and society was acknowledged. The engagement and participation of older people throughout the conference is critical and reflects the conference theme which is Coming of Age Together – New ways of acting and knowing.
The Conference theme also acknowledges that opportunities for advancement are not evenly spread across the community and continues to bring to the forefront elements of our society: Older people who are poor, homeless, speak a language other than English, are LGBTI or from Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds are less likely to be able to advance in older age than those who have more advantages. So by “coming together” the program will feature a challenging agenda, a culture and standard of excellence for evidence informed approaches to ageing that connect research, policy and practice to improve the experience of ageing.
The AAG Conference is a fantastic opportunity to learn and engage with others about cutting edge research from leading national and international experts in ageing. Connect your with leading researchers, specialist practitioners in aged care, health, allied health and other areas related to ageing, as well as policy experts. Over 700 delegates attended at the 2018 Conference in Melbourne, our biggest to date. The program will include over 250 presentations and discussions led by International and Australian speakers.
