AHI webinar: Universally Designed Homes - dispelling the assumptions

This one-hour webinar enables discussion to extend universal design thinking and contextualise the Livable Housing Design Guidelines for the housing sector. Discussion will cover social, affordable and mainstream housing.

Presented by Dr Jane Bringolf from the Centre for Universal Design Australia, this webinar seeks to:

  • Extend thinking beyond a narrow definition of accessibility
  • Identify and dispel assumptions about universal design
  • Contextualise the levels of performance in liveable home design
  • Argue the need for Gold Level of LHDG

Target audience: Anyone in the house-building and design sectors, particularly those who want to know the advantages of Livable Housing Design Guidelines over AS4299. Specifically, anyone procuring design services who is trying to align their housing designs to their social housing tenancies. Maintenance teams and allocation officers might also be interested in how universally designed homes mean less modifications and easier placement of tenants due to the design being suited to a broader population.

Prerequisite: As a prerequisite to this webinar, attendees are requested to complete the free online course ‘Introduction to Universal Design’.
