Thanks Elizabeth. Just saw your email re access standards. There was a
draft 1428.1 for public comment earlier this year but the requirements have
not been called up. The draft was to maintain harmony / consistency with
the BCA (also due for amendment if the DDA access standard is ratified).
But as the new DDA standard is still being finalised no new version of 1428
has been published. Other than AS1428 there are a number of standards
available that are not called up by the BCA. Safe Housing, Adaptable
Housing, AS1428.2 and the HREOC access to premises guidelines (although
they mostly call up AS1428.2).


The draft 1428.1 did include changes such as the size of landings, length
of ramp between landings. As I said before this draft is not yet mandatory.
But Katy, Ian Maxwell and Mark Flynn are currently negotiating with
Standards Australia to provide the relevant standards on the HMMInfo
website. This will mean you can easily access any new edition and
amendments to these standards.
